BBC Bristol is having a contest where you can make music for the BBC's Natural History Unit. Details here.

The premiere of Shark Week was last night on Discovery Channel, kicking off with a special two-hour episode of MythBusters centered around "Jaws," which upped the ante of the myths in question... For instance, can a shark actually break the hull of a boat? What about when Jaws took down the three water buoies? In a deleted scene, Quinn enters a music shop for #12 piano wire - would that have done any good against Jaws? And of course, would an oxygen tank explode when it's fired upon by a rifle? If you missed it, don't worry: it's going to be replayed on the 20th at 9 PM, the 21st at midnight, and lastly, the 23rd at 4 PM (all times Eastern/Pacific).

In London today, the annual swan consensus is taking place. This is a ceremonial practice that's been going on since the 15th Century appearntly, with swans that live along the Thames river. Full story here. I of course can't help but wonder what kind of data this shows about the swans who live there.

There's V For Vendetta posters floating around the internet now. This is looking worse and worse the more I see of this movie. The Wachowski Brothers need to stop making movies, preferrably by dying. I'm glad to know that Alan Moore wants nothing to do with the movie. Cool.
